Locy Type 6 Examples

The Type 6 has the letters “USS” and the ship’s name at the top of the dial. The killers are a grid of about eleven lines in the shape of an oval. The top and bottom of the grid are rounded. In its original form, the year date appears between the dial and the killer grid.

The following cancel is classified as Type 6 (“AT SEA”)

The (“AT SEA”) variation indicates that the letters “AT SEA” are inside the dial.

The following cancel is classified as Type 6i

The “i” variation indicates that the top and bottom of the grid are pointed.

The following cancel is classified as Type 6egpr-1 (C+)

The “e” variation indicates that the year date is inside the dial. The “g” variation indicates that there is a numeral in a circle in the grid. The “p” variation indicates that the cancel is larger than normal. The “r” variation indicates that the letters of the ship’s name are spaced wider than normal. The “-1” indicates that the numeral in the circle in the grid is a “1”. The “C+” variation indicates that there is a comma after the ship’s name.

The following cancel is classified as Type 6dep(3)-1

The “d” variation indicates that there is an open area in the grid which may contain a numeral. The “e” variation indicates that the year date is inside the dial. The “p” variation indicates that the cancel is larger than normal. The “(3)” variation indicates that there are 3 dashes at the bottom of the dial. The “-1” indicates that the numeral in the open area in the grid is a “1”.
